  • Hailing originally from Columbus, Oh, Steve Schnall has been an active member of the Chicago music scene for 13 years. He's a graduate from the Capital University Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Performance and a minor in conducting-Right out of college, Steve assumed the Jazz Director position with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' "Legend of the Sea" that toured all over Latin America, Hawaii, and Alaska-Since his move to Chicago in 1996 Steve continues to be one of the most requested multi-instrumentalists in the Midwest-He plays the soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxes in addition to clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, piccolo, drums/percussion, vocals, & piano/keys for OVER 20 years!

  • Steve has toured all over the world performing all styles of music, for example a jazz tour in Japan, rock shows all over US and Canada, reggae shows in Jamaica, and more.

  • He's been featured on countless radio and television commercial spots including McDonalds, Budweiser, ACE Hardware, Dairy Queen, Montgomery Ward, Sunbeam, Sony Playstation, and most recently TCF Bank.

  • Steve Schnall has shared the stage with such luminaries as Aretha Franklin, Blues Brothers Band, Al Jarreau, The Temptations, The O'Jays, Diana Ross, Cece & Bebe Winans, The Isley Brothers, Guy Lombardo Orch, Keely Smith, Reverend Horton Heat, Martha Reeves, Charo, Sugar Blue, Buddy Guy, Captain and Tenille, Al Martino, The Dells, Gladys Knight, Guy Lombardo Orch, John Abercrombie, Frank Sinatra Jr., Brian McKnight, Clay Aiken, Michael W Smith, Ben Vereen, Bobby Vinton, Phil Woods, Jim McNeeley, Rufus Reid, Wycliffe Gordon, Mark Colby, Tommy Dorsey Orch, The Whispers, Peabo Bryson, 3 Mo Tenors, Martha Reeves, and MANY others. He can currently be seen all over Chicago playing with some of the following bands: Urban Funk Ordinance, Bill Porter Orchestra, Chicago Skyliners Big Band, Model Citizens Big Band, M13, Sharp Cookies, and other freelance projects.

  • In addition to performing, Steve is also involved in other aspects of the music business including his affiliation with Horse-Drawn Productions, a full-service recording studio, and his own business, SSB Intl, which involves booking bands in venues all over the US.

  • He has also served as an Associate Member of NACA, the National Association of Campus Activities. Steve Schnall is a voting member of NARAS.

  • Steve Schnall is currently finishing his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the renowned Depaul University, and is currently applying at various world-class institutions to acquire his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies.

  • Steve currently resides in Chicago with his wife, Jamie, and their son, Gavin.
